COVID-19 has had a tremendous effect on our physical world as we know it, but it has also had a dramatic impact on our collective mental state. We are all doing our best to adapt to and navigate these uncertain times amidst this global pandemic. Now more than ever, it's important to ensure you are honoring your Mental Health. Given the month of May is Mental Health Awareness month, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the importance of stopping, reflecting and using this month as a reminder to check in with yourself, and your loved ones should they be near or far.
We believe it's equally as important to take care of your mind and feed your soul as it is to be tracking your physical symptoms. As much as we want every day to be a good day, it’s healthy and important to welcome the moments where you perceive feelings of anxiety, depression, loss or sadness. And while we are huge advocates of recognizing these feelings, we also want to emphasize the importance of remembering that they are simply feelings, feelings that need to move through you and out of you. They are not YOU!
While everyone has personal practices that help them feel safe and secure mentally, here are a few things that help us feel better when we’re having a moment.
- Writing down three things we are grateful for every morning
- Going to bed early and getting a full night’s rest
- Taking a bath with no devices
- Talking to our friends and family
- Doing a session with a therapist or healer
